There are a wide variety of things to do in Boca Raton. Our beaches are less than 3 miles from campus, and both South Beach (no, not that one) and Spanish River are accessible by parking on either Palmetto Park Road or Spanish River Road, respectively. Gumbo Limbo Nature Center, also out on A1A near the beaches, is home to our Sea Turtle research facility, aquariums, museum exhibitions, nature walks, and more. There are also several other parks, public pools, golf, and tennis facilities all within a few miles of campus.
The Boca Raton Museum of Art is part of Boca Raton’s downtown and is less than 2 miles from campus. The Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens highlight well over a hundred years of Japanese culture in South Florida. FAU’s University Galleries, the Schmidt and the Ritter, are open during the conference. Additionally, FAU’s Wimberly Library is home to several special collections and exhibitions including the Jaffe Center for Book Arts and the Marvin & Sybil Weiner Spirit of America Collection.
